Ex-Werder professional Sambou Yatabaré (34) has to be behind bars for a year. His appeal against the spring verdict was dismissed.

It’s about a case from Yatabaré’s Werder time in 2017. Back in June, there was a violent argument in a parking lot at Charles-de-Gaulle Airport in Paris between Yatabaré and a police officer from the PAF (border police), who was not on duty was coming.

Yatabaré slapped the policeman in the face

The court saw it as proven that the professional, who is now under contract with French club FC Sochaux, punched the police officer in the face and injured an optic nerve. The official was then unable to work for three weeks.

Because of this, Yatabaré was detained for two weeks in February. After his conviction in the first instance, he was initially released under judicial supervision. Now on Monday the professional court in Paris confirmed the prison sentence of one year.

In Bremen, Yatabaré did not have a very successful time.

The midfielder did not produce many positive headlines. On the contrary.

At first he was suspended for four games after being signed by Werder, later he crashed at night with a teammate’s Ferrari and had to end another suspension in April 2017. In a third division game for Werder’s second team against Chemnitz, he was kicked off after an assault.

Now his past is catching up with him and Yatabaré has to go to jail.
