Eintracht Frankfurt – Dembélé possible successor to Kolo Muani – Sport

According to media reports, DFB Cup finalist Eintracht Frankfurt is already preparing for a future without top scorer Randal Kolo Muani. According to the broadcaster Sky and other sources, the Bundesliga soccer team is said to be particularly interested in Moussa Dembélé from Olympique Lyon. The 26-year-old and his management have already held talks with those responsible at Frankfurt.

Dembélé’s contract with Lyon expires in June but he is also being courted by other clubs. “Frankfurt is a big club in the Bundesliga with a large fan base. We are considering and evaluating this option,” Dembélé’s agent Mamadi Fofana was quoted as saying by Sky on Tuesday. After the striker’s first season in Hesse, Eintracht feared a farewell to Kolo Muani, who is traded at top clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain and FC Bayern because of his outstanding performance in the Frankfurt jersey. The French international’s contract runs until the summer of 2027, so a fee of around 100 million euros is expected in the event of an early move.

It is unlikely that Eintracht would only absorb Kolo Muani’s departure internally. Although there are two other strong center forwards in the squad in Rafael Borré and Lucas Alario, both are also considered candidates for change. The Colombian Borré was still a regular player and an important part of the Frankfurt winning team in the Europa League in the 2021/22 season. In the final against Glasgow Rangers, Borré scored 1-1 and later converted the decisive penalty.
