Kraken surprise in first playoff appearance

The Seattle Kraken started the National Hockey League (NHL) playoffs with a surprise win on Tuesday. They beat defending champions Colorado Avalanche 3-1 in the first game of the best of seven series. The Kraken, which were only founded in 2021, celebrated a win in their first play-off game.

The away teams also prevailed in the other games. With the Winnipeg Jets, the West’s second wildcard team managed a 5-1 surprise win over the Vegas Golden Knights, who were the best team in the Western Conference in the regular game. The New York Rangers also won 5-1 at the New Jersey Devils. Tampa Bay Lightning clinched a 7-3 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.
