  • UAE Judo Federation official receives Japanese award

ABU DHABI, April 14, 2023: Nasser Al Al Tamimi, Secretary-General of the UAE Judo Federation, received a major award from the Japanese government.

Akio Isomata, Japanese Ambassador to the UAE, presented Al Tamimi with the Rising Sun Gold Star Medal at a ceremony held at the embassy in Abu Dhabi yesterday.

In November 2022, the Japanese government announced the award in recognition of Al Tamimi’s significant contribution to promoting Judo in the UAE.

Al Tamimi has made an indelible contribution to the Judo movement in the UAE for more than 20 years. He strongly supported and promoted the sport to flourish in the country, and under his leadership, the UAE has sent judokas to every Olympic Games since 2008. His efforts have promoted judo exchanges between Japan and the UAE, and also promoted the establishment and development of relations between the two countries. Judo has become a symbol of friendship between the two sides.
