Cuban swimming with a good harvest of medals in the ALBA Games

According to him sports daily JIT, representatives of 10 countries showed consensus on 14 points after the II Meeting of Ministers and High Authorities of Sport of Alba-TCP was held this Mondaybased in the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, in this city.

The meeting was attended by Iván Gil, Foreign Minister of Venezuela; Félix Plasencia, executive secretary of Alba-TCP; and Melvin Maldonado, Venezuelan youth and sports minister.

The presidency of the meeting highlighted in the protocol greetings the opportunity of the meeting, the good progress of the V Games of Alba; the desire to add wills and ideas so that sport continues to contribute to the development and health of our peoples; and unanimous thanks to the host country for their organizing efforts.

Representatives from Bolivia, Nicaragua, Grenada, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Dominica and others agreed to thank Venezuela as the organizer of the fifth edition and of this summit. Then they highlighted the opportunity that the jousts represent for young people and the need to preserve them and extend them to people with disabilities.

The final declaration of the conclave highlights the legacy of Fidel and Chávez; ratifies the integrating role of ALBA-TCP; defends sport as a promoter of peace and solidarity; acknowledges support for the Olympic Charter; rejects the coercive measures in force against Venezuela and Nicaragua; strongly condemns the US government’s blockade of Cuba and its inclusion on the list of countries that sponsor terrorism; ratifies the priority of sports training in nations; commitment to gender equality, recognition of indigenous games and the promotion of these games.

Finally, The document expresses deep gratitude to Venezuela and President Nicolás Maduro for the successful organization of the V ALBA Games.

Maduro, precisely, sent a present to the participating high-level personalities, consisting of an urn containing Alvarino, the mascot of the V Games of Alba, and a series of medals that are awarded at the end of each competition.
