Charleroi-Malines will ultimately not be replayed: the CBAS inflicts a forfeit score on the Zebras

The meeting between Charleroi and Mechelen will ultimately not be replayed. The match was definitively stopped on November 12 after repeated throwing of smoke from Charleroi supporters when the score was 1-0 for the Zebres. The Belgian Court of Arbitration for Sport (CBAS) has finally decided to inflict a forfeit score on Carolos.

Initially, the Professional Football Disciplinary Board had decided that the match should be replayed behind closed doors following a procedural defect. Several clubs have appealed against this decision before the CBAS, such as Mechelen, Westerlo, Anderlecht and Cercle. The CBAS therefore finally agreed with them.

This decision is important in view of the end of the classic phase and the Playoffs 2. In the standings, Charleroi remains 8th with a point ahead of Anderlecht. The difference lies in the fact that there are two games left to play for the two teams, and no longer three for the Zebras.
