BBVA Mexico profits grow 44.8% in the first quarter – El Sol de México

During the first quarter of the year, BBVA Mexico obtained profits of 25,732 million pesos, which represented an increase of 44.8 percent compared to the same period in 2022, according to the bank’s financial results.

The institution’s profits are the result of a greater demand for credit in the country, as well as a high level of customer transactions, and adequate risk management in services.

As a reflection of the above, he specified that only between January and March 2023, he placed more than 744,000 new loans, 17.5 percent more than in the first quarter of 2022.

“BBVA México maintains sustained support for the country’s economic development through the responsible granting of credit, accompanying both the private sector and governments and encouraging Mexican families to consolidate their assets,” the bank specified in its report.

In this sense, the bank specified that at the end of March 2023, its total current credit portfolio exceeded 1.5 trillion pesos, equivalent to an annual growth of 14.1 percent.

In general, the portfolio presented a delinquency rate (IMOR) of 1.5 percent, which is lower than the average for the banking system.

Within the portfolio, the dynamism of consumer loans stood out, which include payroll or personal loans, automotive financing, among others, and which had a balance of 220 thousand 478 million pesos at the end of the first quarter.

“Regarding credit cards, a favorable evolution is observed in the first quarter of the year, with the placement of more than 578 thousand new cards in the first quarter of 2023, 44.4 percent more than the same period of the previous year,” stressed BBVA Mexico, headed by Eduardo Osuna Osuna.
