Arminia Bielefeld gambled away a 3-0 win in Braunschweig
After 20 minutes, the duel in the table basement of the second division seemed already decided. Bielefeld led 3-0 in Braunschweig. In the end, Arminia had to be happy to have taken at least one point. Rostock is also in crisis.
Mith an impressive comeback, Eintracht Braunschweig saved a point in the basement duel of the 2nd Bundesliga against Arminia Bielefeld. The Lower Saxony were already 0: 3 behind after a little more than 20 minutes, but still managed to make it 3: 3 (2: 3). Jomaine Consbruch (6th minute), Bryan Lasme (11th) and Guilherme Ramos (21st) had given the initially strong Bielefeld team the lead. A minute later, Immanuël Pherai shortened for Braunschweig. In the 34th minute he managed to score the goal. Anthony Ujah (72nd) provided the deserved equalizer.
However, the draw does not help either team in the fight to stay in the class. The Braunschweig team is 15th in the table, one point behind is Arminia on the relegation rank.
In front of 19,758 spectators, both teams played a wild game in the first half. Eintracht goalkeeper Jasmin Fejzic was unlucky when Arminia scored the opening goal. After Consbruch’s shot, the ball flew off the post to his back and from there into the goal. The outstanding Pherai brought hope back to Braunschweig with a brace before the break. After the restart, the hosts pushed for an equaliser. The Bielefeld could not free themselves. Substitute Ujah rewarded Braunschweig’s efforts.
Roßbach enables KSC goals
The descent from Hansa Rostock continues. Coach Patrick Glöckner’s team deservedly lost 2-0 (0-2) to Karlsruher SC and, after the fifth bankruptcy in the sixth game in the second half of the season, slipped even further down the table. Marvin Wanitzek (16th minute/penalty kick) and Paul Nebel (25th) scored the goals in front of 23,500 spectators in the Ostseestadion for KSC, who settled in midfield after their fourth win in a row.
Thanks to the involuntary support of Hansa’s central defender Damian Roßbach, Baden were almost reassuringly ahead after 25 minutes. First, the former player from Karlsruhe conceded a penalty kick against Mikkel Kaufmann, which Wanitzek converted into his eighth goal of the season. Then Roßbach deflected a shot from Nebel intolerable for his goalkeeper Markus Kolke.
The double whammy unsettled the sporting ailing Hanseatic League even more. If Kolke hadn’t reacted brilliantly against Fabian Schleusener in the 41st minute, hopes of a turnaround would have been gone by the break. But it didn’t really get any better after the restart. Hansa found almost no means to even begin to endanger the compact guests.
Leitl and Hanover with a lucky point
When coach Stefan Leitl returned to his former place of work in Franconia, SpVgg Greuther Fürth and Hannover 96 drew 1-1 (0-0) in a hard-fought game. The goals in the balanced game were scored by Hannover’s Hendrik Weydandt (54th minute) and Fürth’s captain Branimir Hrgota, who equalized for the hosts with a penalty kick (57th).
Former Fürth coach Leitl has now been without a win for seven games with Hannover. Leitl was even lucky in the end that the Fürth attacker Ragnar Ache only hit the post with a big chance in the 84th minute. So the game association missed the fifth home win in a row.
Both teams started the game at high speed in front of 10,845 spectators in the Ronhof sports park. A physical effort by Hanover’s Luka Krajnc against Ache (35′) provided the biggest topic of discussion in the first half. Referee Florian Heft initially decided on a penalty. The referee corrected the decision after viewing the video images.
Weydandt scored shortly after the break because the Fürth back line couldn’t clear the ball after a set piece. Shortly thereafter, Hannover’s Thaddäus-Monju Momuluh went into a hard duel against Hrgota in his own penalty area. Referee Heft pointed to the point again and this time stuck to his decision. Hrgota converted safely.
