Cazoo Baskonia won this Sunday on the Real Betis Basketball court (71-83) with a ‘bombardment’ of triples, as the players led by Joan Peñarroya scored 15 of 32 three-point shots (46.8%).

The offensive recital of the Béticos a week ago in Lugo continued at the start of the match against Baskonia, as the locals scored 14 points in four minutes and 26 in a first period in which they made 4 of 5 on three-pointers, with Tyson Pérez outstanding (9 points).

The visitors, with many rotations due to the wear and tear caused by their double European commitment of the week, kept in touch in the first period almost exclusively due to their expertise in the outside shot, since they attempted eleven three-pointers and scored five (26-23 , min.10).

A 2-11 run, with a three-pointer plus an additional shot by Howard included, turned the score around in the first three minutes of the second period, in which the locals, erratic in attack, struggled to prevent their opponent from escaping. The fourth was sealed by a three-pointer from Kurucs (40-49).

A notable improvement in defense allowed Betis, with Tyosn Pérez and Gray inspired in attack, to stay afloat during the third period (58-63, min. 30), but things went wrong as soon as the final quarter began, when the point guard Pepe Pozas left the field with what appears to be a serious knee injury.

Right away, the forward of the Basque team Matt Costello hit two consecutive three-pointers that brought his team’s lead above ten points and Joan Peñarroya’s men were thus able to experience a final stretch of quiet match, in which their victory was not seen compromised at any time.
