(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 26 – Maxirissa in the center of Viterbo, beaten with a baseball bat. The incident occurred this evening around 7pm, in Piazza del Sacrario.
What triggered the clash which saw several groups of Viterbo residents, children and adults, face each other, was a banal argument between two small groups of teenagers. From a partial reconstruction of the facts, it seems that the actual scuffle broke out when the children who were initially arguing for trivial reasons, allegedly called their relatives into question. In a few minutes the square was transformed into a battlefield, where the adults arriving by car first tried to run over each other with their cars, then got out of the vehicles and faced each other with baseball bats and bars. One of the contenders also damaged his opponent’s car with blows with a sledgehammer.
Not even the arrival of police and carabinieri cars calmed things down, in fact the contenders, despite the presence of the officers, continued to try to hit each other.
The situation began to calm down several minutes later, when the square was occupied by four police cars and two carabinieri gazelles. An ambulance was also on site.
The incident ended with some people taken to Belcolle hospital with minor injuries, and others stopped and taken to the police station for checks.
Police and carabinieri are viewing the footage from the cameras present in the square, to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the story. (HANDLE).
