The Spanish radio control fleet, IOM class, already has a new Spanish champion, after the regatta closed this weekend, which has brought together the 39 best national and international sailors in the RCN of Torrevieja, since they had the authorization from the RFEV to participate in the event in Torrevieja, within the framework of the Valencian Community Olympic Week.

The competition started on Friday and the first general classification already gave signs that it was going to be a highly contested and even championship, with the big favorites occupying the top positions. This Sunday, February 19, the national closed and did so with 17 tests completed and 3 discards applied.

It was also planned that the title was going to stay at home, it was only necessary to know who was going to keep the national scepter. In this sense, Ginés Romero (RCN Torrevieja) struggled on the last day and the last regattas to ensure the final victory. Romero is proclaimed champion with partial 1-6-1-1-2-1-1-2-1-17-8-6-2-13-4-5, adding a total of 34 points.

The runner-up of Spain, Guillermo Beltri, also from the host club, hangs the silver with a single point difference than his teammate Romero. In his locker there are 5 partial victories in these 17 tests, the champion six. The bronze travels to the Region of Murcia, with Juan M. Egea (CN Dos Mares) who stays with 72 points.

The top ten closes with Juan F. Chumilla (RCN Torrevieja), with 80 points, followed by Miguel Salvador (CV Port D’Andratx) with 91; Carlos Beltri (CN Villa de San Pedro) with 95; José Valverde (CM Almería) with 102; Per Krabbe (CN Altea), with 113; Eduardo Bonifacio (CN El Balis) with 126 and closing the top ten in Spain Alfonso Buendía (CN Alicante Costa Blanca) who concludes with the same score as the Catalan.

The awards ceremony was attended by Carlos Torrado, president of the FVCV, and Alejandro Fernández, also from the federation and Chief Regatta Officer.
