The ‘Self defense workshop for women’ begins in Palos de la Frontera

A new session of the Women’s Self Defense Workshop begins at the Palos de la Frontera Municipal Sports Center. An initiative of the Departments of Sports and Women of the local council that seeks to offer participants the knowledge necessary to overcome situations of danger or aggression.

Aimed at women over 14 years of age and with the collaboration of the Andalusian Judo Federation, the workshop has been widely accepted by the neighbors. Divided into several sessions over 6 months and lasting 22 hours, the classes have focused on boosting confidence among the students. A fundamental tool in risky situations.

The National Specialist Master, Sebastián Manuel Alvarado Macías, has been in charge of giving this first session, which has also worked on anticipation techniques and attacks on sensitive areas aimed at women. It should be noted that these techniques do not require great physical capacity for personal defense, hence the general nature of the workshop.

The conferences aim to help women in a practical way when faced with a situation of physical risk or aggression. “The fundamental objective is for them to feel safe by knowing techniques to react to an attack and to the fear that it produces and even paralyzes”, explains the mayor of Palos de la Frontera, Carmelo Romero.

The workshop continues on January 28, with two sessions each month until June. An interesting initiative for the self-defense of women, providing security, confidence and self-control.
