VIVA Sport – Men’s singles from Thailand, Kunlavut Vitidsarn made a brilliant achievement at the 2023 India Open. He came out as champion after defeating the king of world badminton, Viktor Axelsen.

In the final match which took place on Sunday 22 January 2023, the 21-year-old badminton player won in a fiery battle in three games 20-22, 21-10 and 12-21.

Vitidsarn said that his success in stopping Axelsen’s dominance could not be separated from the maximum training he underwent before the tournament. Apart from that, the eighth seed also admitted to playing loose without a burden.

“This is a big result for me, because I lost six times to him (Axelsen). I have no pressure,” said Vitidsarn.

“I try to attack more. I try not to think too much, and keep adapting as the match goes on,” he added.

Furthermore, the mainstay of the Thai badminton player felt like a dream because he never thought he would finally beat a champion named Viktor Axelsen.
