The Toronto Blue Jays claimed pitcher Junior Fernández off waivers from the New York Yankees on Thursday.
The 25-year-old right-hander played 13 games with the St. Louis Cards last season and three games with the Pittsburgh Pirates, posting a 2.41 ERA.
Fernández was claimed off waivers by the Yankees in November.
A native of Santo Domingo Centro in the Dominican Republic, he was signed as an international free agent by St. Louis in 2014 and made his Major League Baseball debut with the club in 2019.
In 50 career games, Fernández is 1-1 and has a 5.17 ERA.
