The first federal event of 2023 will take place in Faenza on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 January: the Italian Indoor Para-Archery Championships. On the field, among the 96 registered archers, the Azzurri protagonists at the last Paralympics, the World Cup and the European Championships in Rome. The races will be followed in live streaming from the Federation’s YouTube channel and a summary will be broadcast on Rai Sport.

Sara Faience to host the thirty-sixth edition of the Italian Indoor Para-Archery Championships, the first federal event of the 2023 season scheduled from 20 to 22 January at the PalaCattani.

The event is organized by the Faentini Archers under the aegis of FITARCO and will bring the best interpreters of the Paralympic movement to Lamone, including the Azzurri who shone in Tokyo 2020, the Dubai World Cup and finally the last European Championships held in Rome.
The shooting line of Faenza is preparing to welcome archers arriving from all over Italy and the organizational machine has already been active for some time with many volunteers ready to make themselves available to the Organizing Committee. Overall there are 96 registered athletes, a very high number looking at the previous editions of the Championship.

Four divisions in the competition: Recurve Open, Compound Open, W1 (tertaplegics), Visually Impaired 1 (blind archers) and Visually Impaired 2/3 (visually impaired archers).
The athletes will compete for the youth and senior class titles over the 18-metre distance at the end of the 60-arrow qualification. Subsequently they will be engaged in individual and team direct clashes that will offer the absolute Italian titles up for grabs.

The COMPETITION SCHEDULE – The athletes will already arrive on Friday 20 January where the accreditation and medical classification at the PalaCattani is scheduled from 5 to 7.30 pm. Saturday the race starts with the qualifications of the Visually Impaired, of the W1 and of the women’s compound which will assign the class titles and the eliminations of VI 1 and 2/3. In the afternoon it will be the turn of the Olympic archery and the men’s compound which will shoot both the qualifications and the first elimination rounds. Sunday will be the decisive day with semifinals and finals that will assign the absolute titles of each division.

THE AZZURRI OF TOKYO 2020, DUBAI AND ROME 2022 ON THE FIELD – Confirming the fact that Faenza will be the capital of archery for a weekend, the Technical Director of the National Para-Archery Guglielmo Fuchsova will be present at the Italian Championships, while the entire Italian team will be present in the competition. The same as the Paralympic wonders of Tokyo 2020 (recurve individual silver by Enza Petrilli, recurve mixed team silver by Elisabetta Mijno and Stefano Travisani and compound individual bronze by Maria Andrea Virgilio). The same one who hoarded medals at the Dubai 2022 World Cup and the Rome 2022 European Championships where she finished in first place in the medal table.

THE OUTGOING CHAMPIONS – To defend the crown conquered in 2022 in Macerata there will be, in the open recurve, the bearer of the Fiamme Azzurre and European champion Elisabetta Mijno and, in the men’s, Maurizio Mancini (Frecce Azzurre). In the compound the outgoing champions are two Azzurri: the European vice-champion Matteo Bonacina (Archers of the Alps) and the athlete from Cattolica Eleonora Sarti (Paralympic Defense Sports Group). In the W1 two other nationals will defend the Italian title: Salvatore Demetrico (Dyamond Archery Palermo) and Asia Pellizzari (Arcieri del Castello). In the Visually Impaired 1 category, the one reserved for the blind, the outgoing champion is Davide Chiricò (Dyamond Archery Palermo), while in the Visually Impaired 2/3 (visually impaired) the European champion and world bronze medalist Daniele Piran (Arco Club Bolzano Vicentino) will defend the tricolor ).

THE RACE LIVE STREAMING AND ON RAI SPORT – The competition will be followed in live streaming on YouArco, the official youtube channel of FITARCO, both on Saturday (one appointment in the morning and one in the afternoon) and on Sunday, when the matches valid for the absolute titles will be broadcast. The live broadcasts will be broadcast simultaneously on the federal social channels of Twitch, Facebook and Twitter. A summary of Sunday’s finals will be broadcast in the days following the event on Rai Sport.
