MADRID, 13 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish badminton player Carolina Marín has said goodbye to the Malaysian Open, the first ‘Grand Slam’ of the season, after losing this Friday in the quarterfinals against the current runner-up in the world, the Chinese Yu Fei Chen (21-18, 21-19).

The three-time world champion and six-time European champion, current number nine in the world, started 4-0 in a first quarter that dominated until halfway, when the Asian managed to turn it around with four consecutive wins (11-14). Since then, the Huelva player was in tow and gave up the partial.

Again he took the lead at the start of the second moto, although this time he held off Chen’s rallies until the end. After managing to equalize the set (19-19), two good shots from the current number two in the ranking condemned him after 57 minutes of play.

In this way, Marín says goodbye to the first ‘big’ of the season in a year in which he hopes to gradually recover his best form, after months of recovery after the serious knee injury that left him out of the Games Tokyo Olympics.
