The young Fruhvirtova sisters, to the assault of the Australian Open

The women’s draw at the Australian Open will have two sisters in contention who can give a lot to talk about in the coming years in the world of tennis: the Czechs Linda and Brenda Fruhvirtova. While Linda achieved her pass to the final draw due to her position in the ranking (currently she is 80 in the WTA ranking), Brenda achieved it in the previous round of the tournament after beating the Spanish Jessica Bouzas.

Linda, the eldest of the Fruhvirtova sisters, has already shown incredible progression on tour in recent months. with only 17 years. After standing out on the ITF circuit, where she won 3 titles and several finals, Fruhvirtova made her debut on the WTA circuit in Charleston in 2021 when she was about to turn 16. It was not until 2022 when Linda Fruhvirtova, who was beaten in the semifinals of the Wimbledon 2021 junior tournament by the Spanish Ane Mintegi, made her great leap on the circuit reaching the round of 16 at the WTA 1,000 in Miami, where she fell to Paula Badosa and surpassing other favorites such as Elise Mertens or Victoria Azarenka (in this case after withdrawing due to injury) and playing for the first time in a Grand Slam at the last US Open, where she lost in the second round to another Spaniard, Garbiñe Muguruza. However, in the Chennai tournament, Fruhvirtova won her first WTA title as a professional, which also allowed her to sneak into the Top-100 ranking for the first time. Now Fruhvirtova, who will debut against the Australian Jaimee Fourlis, hopes to continue making history and establish herself as one of the young promises to follow on the WTA circuit.

More impressive if possible is the case of his little sister, Brenda Fruhvirtova, born in 2007 and who will play the final draw of the Australian Open at just 15 years old after overcoming the three rounds of the Australian Grand Slam qualifier. Like her sister Linda, Brenda Fruhvirtova has stood out during her time as a junior on the ITF circuit, where she has won 6 titles in 2022 alone. Milestones to which the young Czech tennis player has been adding her first victories as a professional in WTA tournaments 125. At 15 years old, Brenda Fruhvirtova, who is already 135th in the ranking, wants to continue making history at an Australian Open in a final draw in which she will debut against Aliaksandra Sasnovich and where, if she wins, she could see herself in the second round with the Third favorite for the title, the American Jessica Pegula.

Both Linda and Brenda Fruhvirtova have already caught the attention of the big brands in the world of tennis, as they both are sponsored by the sportswear brand Nike and the racket brand Wilson, as well as being represented by the IMG agency and belonging to the prestigious coach Patrick Mouratoglou’s academy. The fairy tale of the Fruhvirtova sisters on the women’s circuit has only just begun, as in Czech tennis, which has put another promising 16-year-old youngster into the tournament, also from the preview: Sara Bejlek.
