Žagar scores 25 points against the strong Vilnius ‘Rytas’

Latvian basketball player Artūrs Žagars scored 25 points and had six assists in the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) game on Wednesday, but that did not save Ķedaina “Nevežis” from losing against last season’s champion Vilnius “Rytas”.

“Nevežis” lost to “Rytas” in the home game with the result 84:86 (18:31, 26:23, 19:17, 21:15).

In the last 90 seconds of the game, Žagar had opportunities not only to break the tie, but also to win, but all three shots he made missed the basket.

The Latvian basketball player was on the field for 33 minutes and 16 seconds, during which he made five out of seven two-point shots, three out of seven long-range shots and six out of nine free throws, becoming the most productive player in the home team with a total of 25 points. He also had two rebounds, six assists, seven fouls, three personal fouls and six fouls, accumulating a +/- of +3 and an efficiency rating of 20.

In the ranks of the winners, Gītis Radzevičs scored 19 points and won 12 rebounds, achieving a double-double.

With six wins and eight losses, “Nevežis” is in ninth place in the tournament table, while “Rytas” is in second position with a 10-3 record.

The two teams had already met twice this season, with “Nevežis” basketball players winning both times.
