Would recommend abroad instead of Bavaria

Bayer Leverkusen wants to either extend the contract with national player Jonathan Tah early or release the sought-after defender in the summer. Managing director Fernando Carro announced this on Sunday evening on the TV channel “Sky”. Record champions FC Bayern, among others, are said to be interested in Tah. The 28-year-old’s contract runs until 2025 and does not contain an exit clause.

“We want to extend with him. We are a club that will not give away players for free. That means we have to extend it, otherwise we will sell it,” said Carro. When asked whether FC Bayern, dethroned as German champions by Leverkusen, had already contacted Bayer about Tah, Carro replied: “Not with us.”
The 59-year-old added that they would like Tah to stay: “We have spoken to Jonathan, we value him very much. He knows that the club and all of us want to keep him in Leverkusen. He knows that. But we also respect his wishes. We’ll see whether he stays with us in the end or goes somewhere else.” A decision should only be made after the end of the season.
Carro: If Tah wants to move, he should leave Bayer Leverkusen abroad
If the worst comes to the worst, the rumored transfer fee is said to be around 20 million euros, according to “Sky”. Carro would then advise Tah to move abroad. “If I try to put myself in Jonathan’s shoes, perhaps it might be more interesting for him if he wants to move or would end up moving, perhaps not moving within Germany. Maybe it would be more interesting to move abroad.”

After winning the championship with Leverkusen, the central defender can also win the DFB Cup in the final against second division team 1.
