OFFICIAL SERIES B – Botto Gema Montecatini, signed by Marco Laganà

Gema Montecatini closes 2022 and opens the new year 2023 with a New Year’s bang, formalizing the purchase of Marco Laganà, a 197 cm shooting guard native of Melito di Porto Salvo, a stone’s throw from Reggio Calabria, where he was born 30 years ago on January 5, 1993.

It is a signing of great offensive impact, leadership and character that the management “gives” to teammates and their fans for the most demanding moment of the championship.

Son of art, his father Lucio was a Viola Reggio Calabria player for a long time in the eighties, Marco is one of the most prolific Italians of the last ten years in A2, as well as the best scorer (average of 25.3 points) in the only experience of B lived so far, from September to a few days ago, in Pallacanestro Firenze with which he has just ended the relationship to embrace the Gema project.

Laganà’s debut among the pros dates back to 2010/2011, in the Biella basketball jersey, when he played his first play games in the top flight, also playing the following seasons in Piedmont, in a crescendo also represented by call-ups for the Under 20 national team, with which he won the 2013 European Championship (as captain), however hampered by a bad knee injury in the last season.

In 2014 the three-year passage to Cantù and in 2017 the conclusion of the season in Brescia, back in A, after a brief passage from his Reggio Calabria in A2 (5 days).

In 2017 he signed with Latina, then closed the season in 2018 in Bergamo, contributing his points to an unexpected salvation; the following year he was in Ravenna (11.6 points per game), before signing at the end of February for the Legnano Knights, still in A2, brought to safety in the playouts with over 10 points per game.

Subsequently, at the end of November 2019, the agreement with Orlandina Basket, with which he averaged almost 19 points until the championship was interrupted, and in 2020/21 he is back in Biella, in A2 with another 15 points average. In the summer of 2021 he signed with Mantova in A2, with whom he played a regular season averaging 13 points and reached game 5 of the quarter-final playoffs against the future newly promoted Verona (over 12 points on average).
