The Philadelphia 76ers beat the Charlotte Hornets 131-113 with a spectacular Joel Embiid who signed 53 points, 12 rebounds and three assists. While the home fans chant “MVP!”, Embiid had his second 50-point outing this season and fourth of his career. It is also the 30th game in Embiid’s career with at least 40 points and 10 rebounds. The other player to do it in franchise history was Wilt Chamberlain.
Tobias Harris added 17 points and James Harden added 14 for the Sixers.Kelly Oubre Jr. and Terry Rozier led Charlotte with 29 points each. The Hornets have lost five straight.

Embiid took over in the final three minutes of the second period, scoring 15 of his 28 first-half goals. in that span and took advantage of the disparity with Mason Plumlee. On one play, Embiid moved down the line and extended over Plumlee for a dunk that set the crowd on fire at the Wells Fargo Center.
The 76ers had a season high of 41 points in the second quarter.
