“I found a very good competitive path, winning in Madrid and Prague gave me so much confidence that later I achieved good results even playing badly. I gained a lot of momentum and that allowed me to set new goals on the circuit”, analyzed Cachín.

Those goals that he set for himself allowed him to play two Grand Slams, the first at Roland Garros after qualifying, and then at the US Open when he showed his best repertoire to eliminate the Slovenian Aljaz Bedene and the American Brandon Holt, before falling in the third round against Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

“At Roland Garros I entered as a ‘lucky loser’, I won one match and lost the other, but I understood the magnitude of playing in these tournaments. At the US Open I did well but I found myself with a rival who was having a great day” , he recalled in reference to Moutet.
