ATP > Ivanisevic, coach of Djokovic: “People have so many other things to say about him that they forget to talk about one of his best shots”

Questioned by our colleagues from Tennis Majors the week of Novak Djokovic’s coronation in the Turin Masters, his coach, Goran Ivanisevic, insisted on a very specific point in the Serbian’s game: service. And according to him, this coup is still too underestimated by the media and various observers.

“His serve has been very underrated throughout his career. If you look at so many matches, five or ten years ago, his serve always saved him in one way or another. But now it’s even better. Now he always wants to improve. Especially during this week in Turin where he had an incredible percentage and incredible precision on serve. Whenever he needed to, he hit a first serve. His second serve is much better. But his serve is clearly one of his best shots. People don’t talk about him because they have so much else to say about him that they forget to talk about his service. He has one of the best serves on the circuit. Especially when it’s tight it’s tough, especially this week he was hitting an incredible serve under pressure. But you can always improve. You can always go back. With the service, it is very delicate. So far it’s going well. Especially this week. The court was a little faster, but the serve still worked amazing. »
