Maria Pitach, runner-up in the archery world

Vespella de Gaià archer Maria Pitarch won the team silver medal at the World Field Championship held at the NFAA Easton Archery Center in Yankton (South Dakota, United States).

Pitarch, who competed in the recurve bow test, was part of the Spanish team that achieved such a historic result together with Alexa Misis (compound bow) and Ana Cano (bare bow). In the final they lost to Italy by just two points difference (56-54).

In the semifinals, the Spanish goalkeepers had defeated France by 56-51 and in the quarterfinals, the host United States by 57-52.

In the individual event of this World Championship, Pitarch came in tenth position, after falling in the third round against the American Molly Nugent 74-86.

228 athletes took part in the event (113 men and 77 women), from 24 countries, who competed in spectacular facilities that not only have permanent field and 3D tours, but also magnificent outdoor precision shooting ranges. and rooms in which to throw up to 90 meters.

The athletes who made up the national team met after the dispute, at the end of August in Salamanca, of the final qualifier to which Pitarch attended on behalf of the Club Arquers Cambrils. There were two long days of competition in which all the participants proved to be at a good level.
