With or without Matarazzo, the basement duel with VfL Bochum on Saturday (3.30 p.m., LIVE! at kicker) will not be any less important for VfB Stuttgart. The man who also led the Stuttgart training session on Thursday will probably be on the sidelines of the Swabians: Matarazzo’s previous assistant coach Michael Wimmer.

Sports director Sven Mislintat promised that Wimmer could also be responsible for other games after the Bochum game: “It’s an option that he might play several games,” revealed the 49-year-old on the sidelines of training. Because Mislintat is now primarily concerned with finding “the most accurate and best possible solution” for Matarazzo’s successor – “best for another 1000 days and 100 games”. That’s how long Matarazzo had officiated.

Several names are now circulating, most recently one: As initially reported by “Sky”, Zsolt Löw am Neckar is a candidate. According to kicker information, however, assistant Thomas Tuchel is extremely unlikely to sign at the moment.
