Jeollanam-do Fire Department, 4th National Fire Service General Championship ‘Comprehensive Champion’


[아시아경제 호남취재본부 윤자민 기자] Jeonnam Fire Department (Chief Kim Jo-il) won the overall championship in the ‘4th National Fire Fighting Competition’.

According to the Jeonnam Fire Department on the 13th, the National Firefighting Festival, hosted by the National Fire Service every year, is a place of communication and harmony for firefighting families across the country.

About 2,500 firefighters from 19 city and provincial fire departments participated in this competition, and they competed in seven sports including soccer, baseball, basketball, table tennis, foot volleyball, tennis, and badminton.

Jeonnam Fire Department took the overall first place with 90 players participating in a total of 6 sports (3 soccer, 2 baseball, basketball, table tennis, tennis 1, and badminton 2), winning tennis championships and runner-up in badminton and baseball.


The Fire Department has organized and operated a club of about 800 people in 19 sports, including baseball, and is working to improve communication and physical strength among employees through healthy leisure activities.

An official from the Jeonnam Fire Department said, “The club activities are very effective in nurturing firefighters with strong physical and mental strength and strengthening teamwork in times of disaster.” said
