Gandia this weekend becomes the epicenter of martial arts. On October 8 and 9, the Spanish Kendo Championship will be held in the pavilion of Raval de Gandia, a
Japanese martial art already rooted in the city that will take place for the seventh consecutive edition. They have so indicated
Lydia Morant, Councilor for Sports, and David Martínez, representative of the Gandia Kendo Club.

The competition will host around 100 people and will have two phases: “The first will be held in Gandia and will be individual, while the second, for teams, will be played outside and will attend the
regional selection with some competitors from Gandia“, Morant pointed out. The mayor thanked the Kendo Club for “being the recipient of events that give visibility to this sport in Gandia”.

“The Spanish Federation and the Valencian Federation of Judo and Associated Sports already have Gandia as a fixed location on their calendar, something that would be impossible without the collaboration of the Gandia City Council”, explained Martínez. The representative of
local club has highlighted that this modality is taking wings and “perhaps this year will be the campaign in which there are more registrations in the entire history of the club”.

The competition will start on Saturday October 8 at 9 am. This will be played during the morning and afternoon of the same Saturday and will conclude around noon on Sunday, October 9. Admission will be completely free throughout the event.
