Let’s talk about the club and the PSG institution to start. PSG have not yet secured first place in the group but have guaranteed their presence in February for the round of 16 of the great continental cup. This is the 11th time in a row that the QSI version of the capital team has won its sesame at the end of the chickens. But more eloquent statistics still, it is the 13th qualification in its history at this stage of the competition. Or one more than the Lyon rival, a stronghold of European football in the 2000s. It is also the 10th best total of all countries combined.

For the third time in its history, PSG have scored seven goals in a match. The two previous ones date back to 2000 against Rosenborg (7-2 with goals from Anelka, Peter Luccin, Laurent Robert and Laurent Leroy) and 2017 against Glasgow (7-1 thanks to doubles from Cavani and Neymar as well as a goal from Mbappé).

The record for the widest score, however, does not belong to the Parisians but to the Phocaeans. Gabi Heinze’s OM went to crush the poor Slovaks of Zilina seven goals to zero on November 3, 2010. André-Pierre Gignac had, that evening, planted a hat-trick.

To be noted among the other river scores of recent times, the demonstrations of AS Monaco in 2003 against Deportivo La Corogne (8-3) and of Olympique Lyonnais in 2004 against Werder Bremen (7-2) and in 2011 against Dynamo Zagreb (7-1).
