Lonzo Ball Opens Up About Meniscus Transplant and Road to Recovery

Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball spoke in more detail about his injury that has kept him away from action since January 2022.

He revealed in his podcast “The WAE Show” that he needed a meniscus transplant to try to recover from his knee injury.

Ball said he tore his meniscus in 2018 as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. After an accumulation of injuries to his left knee, he claimed there was no cartilage left and a graft was necessary last year. The operation was carried out at the same time as he received a cartilage graft in his knee.

“There was no meniscus and my bones were rubbing together,” Ball said. The cartilage was gone and my bone was in bad shape, so I had to get a new meniscus from a donor. »

The 26-year-old underwent a third knee surgery within a year in March 2023. Both Ball and the Bulls have argued that this surgery would provide the player’s best chance of returning to the field.

Even though he did not participate in the 2023-24 season, Ball believes he is on the right track.
