The Agen Basket Club is refining its preparation

After a very difficult off-season, the ABC is leaving for a transition season in National 3, where it will find several clubs from Lot-et-Garonne.

The Agen Basket Club flag team has already played two friendly matches that are rich in lessons. Coach Rachid Abbassi does not use the language of wood: “In Auch, the players saw themselves as too good looking and did not approach the meeting with all the aggressiveness required. They started the match against GAB, in Meilhan- sur-Garonne, with a completely different state of mind, and had an excellent first half, before, logically, giving in to a team with a completely different squad.”

Despite these encouraging signs, the CBA staff decided not to keep any of the three recruits who had recently been introduced but remained on probation. “It seemed to us that Carlos De Macero would have some difficulty in fairly quickly regaining his full yet interesting physical potential. We decided not to keep Yanis Takersboust, who had an excellent match against GAB, for non-sporting reasons. Finally, the leader Christopher Tsamas had offers and we cannot follow financially.”

A call to club partners

In this regard, President Martine Archiapati wishes to emphasize that “the ABC intends to maintain its rank in N3 and provide this season a great show which should be followed by a large audience. We have, in fact, several derbies (against Val d ‘Albret, Colayrac, Villeneuve or even Valence-Condom without forgetting, of course, Layrac-Astaffort) who ensure us great evenings. It’s time to be alongside the club which retains all its ambitions. The ABC will need the support of its partners to recruit two to three players to strengthen a team which, for the time being, is a little lacking in size. “We are indeed targeting players around 2 meters and who adhere to the club’s project which wants, this season in particular, to rely on its values”, specifies Rachid Abbassi.

This Thursday the ABC will go to Seyches then Friday to Auch before hosting the next day, Saturday September 3, at the Toulouse Basket Club Stadium. Meeting open to the public free of charge.
