Judo-Union Burgkirchen-Schwand: Burgkirchner judoka are Bundesliga runners-up

Once again it was the “fighting coach” Christoph Kronberger who wrote history in the 2nd Bundesliga for the Judo-Union Burgkirchen-Schwand. The Innviertlers came home from Leibnitz in Styria with the best team result in the club’s history.

CASTLE CHURCHES, LEIBNITZ. What a sensation for the Judo-Union Burgkirchen-Schwand (JUBS): After the already successful spring round, the locals were able to prove their strength in the fall. The team around the “fighting coach” Christoph Kronberger went one better after the 3rd place in the previous year and took the runner-up title.

Leader defeated

Vienna Samurai, the leading team after the spring round, posed a challenge for the JUBS, but the Innviertler mastered it with a 3:4 victory. The JUBSers left the mat just as victorious from the other encounters: Judo Dornbirn defeated the Innviertler Judoka 2:5, and they also won 2:5 against ASKÖ Reichraming. In the match against Union Kirchham, the Burgkirchners were clearly superior with a 1:6 victory.

The tension rose until all the daily results were entered, as three teams, Bischofshofen II, PSV Salzburg and JUBS started the final with the same number of points. Only 2 individual victories out of a total of 56 fights were ultimately decisive for the title of the Mozart townspeople.

Deserved wins for JUBS

The point bringers were once again Jonathan Gehmayr, Felix Stadler and Christoph Kronberger with 4 wins. David Naji and Patrick Hinterberger won three times, Markus Steidl twice and Alexander Hatzmann brought home one victory.

“Of course we would have been happy about every further victory, but it was a special pleasure that we were able to crack the table first from the spring round,” emphasizes coach Kronberger.
