It is a direct consequence of this disastrous League of Nations campaign with a victory in six games. France will be in the second hat during the draw for qualifying for Euro 2024 football, their defeat on Sunday in Denmark (2-0) preventing them from finishing among the ten seeds.
The classification of the League of Nations determines the distribution of European teams within the various hats, before the draw scheduled for October 9 in Frankfurt. With five points in six games, France is guaranteed to finish as the worst third group in the League of Nations. However, only the two best third will be seeded.
The Netherlands, Portugal or Denmark as possible adversaries
Among the teams in hat 1 are the Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, Croatia, Hungary and even Denmark, which the Blues could therefore face during the qualification phase, organized from March to November 2023. They will face also the Scandinavians in their second group match of the World Cup in Qatar.
The qualifying mode mitigates the consequences of not being among the top ten seeds. The ten group winners and the ten runners-up will join Germany, host country and automatic qualifier. The last three places will be awarded at the end of the play-offs scheduled for March 2024.
