Paris 2024 Olympic Games: Florent Manaudou will be the first bearer of the Olympic flame on French soil

Her sister Laure Manaudou was the first French torchbearer during the lighting of the flame in Olympia on April 16. Three weeks later, little brother Florent will symbolically be the first person to carry the Olympic flame on French soil. It will be 7 p.m. on May 8 when Florent Manaudou will disembark from the “Belem”, this ancient sailing ship which must cross the Mediterranean to reach France from Greece, with the famous torch on board.

Earlier, the flame traveled 5,000 km across Greece before being officially handed over to France this Friday to begin its 12-day journey.

By setting foot in the Marseille city, Florent Manaudou will begin the long journey of the Olympic flame across French territory. From May 8 to July 26, the flame will be carried by 10,000 torchbearers across 64 territories (including 5 overseas territories) and will pass through more than 400 cities. The route will therefore begin in Marseille where visits to the Roucas blanc marina, Olympic site for sailing, the Marseille Vélodrome, the northern districts of the city and Notre-Dame de la Garde are on the program.

The Olympic flame journey, from May 8 to July 26.

After completing this long journey for two and a half months, the Olympic flame will arrive in Île-de-France on July 14, a national holiday, and will be visible in the other Ile-de-France departments for ten days.
