Bundesliga: Salzburg wins heated game in Ried

Four days after the 1-1 draw against AC Milan in the Champions League, Salzburg set the course for victory early on with a double strike from Benjamin Sesko (5th) and Junior Adamu (15th). The game was over after Christoph Monschein missed the great opportunity to score the goal after half an hour with a missed penalty and Leo Mikic had to take a shower early after a rude foul (42′).

Although ÖFB youngster Adamu was also carried away after the break and saw the red card (44th), Salzburg didn’t give up the game and even increased thanks to a goal from Noah Okafor (71st). 3-0 The dress rehearsal for the CL duel with Chelsea on Wednesday (9 p.m.) was a success.

Salzburg does not take a breather

The rotation at Salzburg was limited despite the upcoming next stress test in the Champions League. Coach Matthias Jaissle changed his starting eleven in four positions compared to the duel with AC Milan. Sesko and Adamu formed the newly formed double striker, central defender Bernardo and six-man Lucas Gourna-Douath also started. Salzburg attacked and acted extremely efficiently.

In the fifth minute, Sesko put the series champion ahead after a well-timed hole pass from Mauritus Kjaergaard. After 15 minutes, Adamu increased the lead to 2-0 with just the second shot on goal after a cross from Nicolas Capaldo. As the game progressed, the Rieders got into the game a little better. After Bernardo fouled Marcel Ziegl in the penalty area, referee Markus Hameter pointed to the penalty spot. Christoph Monschein shot the ball past the goal on the right. Just before the break, Mikic saw a red card after hitting Gourna-Douath in the face with his foot.

Rieder remain without a shot on goal

However, Salzburg’s superiority did not last long. Goalscorer Adamu was sent off after being punched in the face by opponent Platovic. The Bulls continued to dominate the game. After almost an hour, Kjaergaard missed the final preliminary decision with a shot from the pole (60th). Substitute Okafor brought this about in the 71st minute when he confidently pushed in from close range.

In the course of the second half, Salzburg shifted down a gear in view of the task on Tuesday. However, Ried was unable to make a profit from this either and remained harmless in front of the “bulls” goal. The Upper Austrians didn’t get a shot on goal in the entire game and have now been waiting for a win for six Bundesliga games. The Upper Austrians have not won against Ligakroesus Salzburg for ten league duels.
