With 5 gold medals, Mozambique finished at the top of the nations ranking of the 2022 African Amateur Boxing Championships, the first organized since 2017. In Maputo, the Mozambicans finished ahead of Algeria (15 medals including 4 gold) and Zambia (7 medals including 4 gold). Note that the gold medal in the heavy (+81 kg) was won by the Moroccan vice-world champion Khadija El Mardi and that in the super-heavyweight (+92 kg) by the Egyptian Yousry Hafez.
