TRIESTE. The usual medical examinations in the morning then, after receiving the green light, the transfer to Slovenia to join the team in the Lasko retreat. First day in Trieste full of commitments for Phil Fayne, the center that Marco Legovich has chosen to face the new season.
From today he will start working together with his new teammates, trying to fill in the shortest possible time the gap that the missed two weeks of preparation have inevitably created. The full immersion in the facilities of Thermana Lasko will facilitate the work of a player who, in any case, will not be on the field on Friday in the first friendly match of the Trieste basketball season. While waiting to see him on the field, the impressions aroused by the long American were positive.
A helpful guy who showed a great desire to start working with the team by making himself available to the technical staff. «I made a long journey to get here from Sacramento but it was worth it – says Fayne – Trieste is a splendid city and I can’t wait to get to work immediately with my teammates and staff.
I talked a lot with coach Legovich, about what he wants from this season and what he wants to see from me on the pitch. What he expects on an offensive and defensive level from my plays, but above all of the mindset that he needs to see in all of his players. He underlined a lot how much he always wants to see the maximum intensity and energy in training and matches, in order to constantly improve in performance ».
Ready to begin, therefore, in a championship that will try to discover and learn about match after match. «Last season I followed the Italian teams that participated in the cups, beyond that I know that the entire LBA championship is very tough, tough and competitive. This does not scare me, I am a hard worker, I never give up, I always leave all my energy on the floor and I hope the fans will appreciate it, I never really spare myself.
What I want, what the team wants, is to make our fans proud of us every time we go out on the pitch: whether it’s a training session or a match, energy must never be lacking ». Fayne’s debut with the Trieste Basketball jersey is scheduled for the Pajetta memorial, Friday 2 September, in the derby against Apu Old Wild West Udine.
