In this way, the birth of the entity resulting from the two clubs that existed in the town at the time, the ADC of Sarrià above and the Grupo Deportivo Nuestra Señora de Montserrat will be commemorated, and, at the same time, a tribute to the first president of the EU Sarrià.

The Josep Mir tournament will be played between Saturday and Sunday and the hosts, Bordils, Granollers B and the French Thuir will participate. Bordils and Granollers B will be in charge of opening the tournament on Saturday at 4:30 p.m., followed by Thuir and Sarrià at 6:30 p.m. While on Sunday, the consolation final for third and fourth place will take place (10:30 a.m.) and then the tournament will end with the proclamation of the champion who will leave the final for first and second place (12:30 p.m.).

“It is very important and we are very excited that this tournament bears the name of the number 1 member of the Unió Esportiva Sarrià and its first president. But they also want it to be a tribute to those who introduced handball to the town, who were part of the two clubs, taking them forward in an enviable way. Two clubs that have often been rivals, but in 1977 they managed to join forces and pave the way for what is now the Unió Esportiva Sarrià”, explained Sarrià in an informative note.

The club intends for the Josep Mir tournament to become a reference in its pre-season and continue to be held in the coming years.
