FIBA Americup 2022 is coming

Originally, the Americup was scheduled to take place in 2021, but due to the Covid situation, it was moved to this year, to be held from September 2 to 11. The Geraldão Arena in the city of Recife, Brazil will host this championship that will crown the best team on the continent. Likewise, this tournament grants 7 quotas for the Panamerican Games of Santiago de Chile 2023.

12 countries will be measured in this championship, which will be divided into 2 rounds, the first of these will be a group stage and later we will have elimination keys with the best 8 until we discover the best basketball team in America. We will have 3 groups of 4 members from where the 2 best places advance to the next round, in addition to these, the 2 best third places from the group stage will also advance to the quarterfinals. USA is presented as the current champion of America, however, having a very varied squad, these are not the favorites in the contest.
