To the rhythm of the bar were the basket regional finals of the School Sports Games (JDE), held at the Municipal Gymnasium of the Paillaco district.
Expected was the activity that sought to crown as the best in the region the ladies of the Proyecto de Futuro school team, trained by Felipe Reyes, who played at home against the Laguina players of the Nueva España school, winning with a score from 55 to 32.
On the boys’ side, it was the representatives of the San Luis de Alba school in the regional capital, with their coach César Barría, who achieved first place against the German School No. 95 of Paillaco in a 63-48 victory. .
Miguel Carrasco, mayor of Paillaco and host of the final day, expressed the joy of having representatives of the commune in the national competition, indicating that “very happy because a basketball sports tradition is being born in the Proyecto de Futuro school, the school in the one I studied and from which I am a proud graduate, so a double happiness, first for being mayor of Paillaco and second for being a graduate of the school so congratulations to the champions, to the director, to all those who did possible this and also to the technical director of the team, who allowed this sporting achievement”.
The coach of the champions of San Luis de Alba, César Barría, projected the work they will carry out in the coming weeks, explaining that “the national, as far as I know, is at the end of October, there is still time to prepare a little the team, improve details. This litter is five seniors and five freshmen, so you feel that year apart. So now to work and start building the team better and reach the national team more competitively”.
The day of regional finals was also animated by the women’s team of the San Fidel de Mariquina Seminary. There were also male teams that competed representing the Alberto Córdova School in Lanco and the Liceo Rector Abdón Andrade Coloma in La Unión.
The goal of the school basketball players is to represent our region in the next JDE2022 nationals that will be held in the Bio Bio region, from October 23 to 29.
