Jérôme Julien crowned European archery champion

Jérôme, passionate about this sport practiced by his dad, was allowed to train in recurve archery from the age of 6. At the age of 19, he became European archery champion in his category, the Longbow, or straight bow, during the European championship in all categories the Bowhunter, which took place from July 2 to 24 in France. , in Confolens, Charente. Next year the competition will be held in Finland.

More than a thousand archers were registered, including 250 French. They competed on a 5 km course dotted with 28 targets adapted to the type of bow used. “There are 3 kinds of bowsexplains Julian, the recurve bow, the compound bow, modern and technical with a sight, manual controls, more intended for hunting and my category, the Longbow or traditional straight bow. Julien has fond memories of those days. A few days of confinement on his return prevented him from talking about it earlier, but he is catching up with the same enthusiasm that animated him when he started: “This sport, calm and calm, suits me well. It allows contact with nature, calls on mental concentration, physical strength but also values ​​such as camaraderie, friendship, loyalty, respect and mutual aid.”
