Modeste before moving to BVB
BVB has probably chosen the Haller replacement!
As “Sport1” reports, Borussia Dortmund is about to transfer Cologne clipper Anthony Modeste (34) after the bad testicular tumor diagnosis from top purchaser Sebastien Haller (28)!
According to information from “Sport1”, there should already be an agreement with the player, but the negotiations between Dortmund and Cologne are still pending.
The transfer fee for Modeste, who is under contract with 1. FC Köln until next summer, is four to five million euros.
Immediately after the 1-0 win against Bayer Leverkusen, BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl (42) said: “Something will probably happen. I think promptly. We are on the right track. We will have clarity in the next few days. What we do will happen.”
The fact is: Dortmund has been trying to get the Frenchman for a long time, but the change is said to have dragged on due to contractual modalities. BVB offered Modeste a one-year contract, the striker wanted a two-year contract.
On Sunday morning, as usual, Modeste was sweating for Cologne’s Bundesliga opener against Schalke (5:30 p.m.) on the training ground and is in the squad for the game. The clipper scored 73 goals in 154 games for Cologne and is the absolute crowd favorite in the cathedral city. However, the Frenchman repeatedly flirted with a move away from Cologne in the summer.

Only in July did Modeste say: “I’m always honest and have a clear line. If something comes up, I have to talk to the club about it. But I don’t think that will be a problem because I think that the top earners will have to go slowly.”
And: In Dortmund, Modeste would even play the Champions League at the end of his career. Instead, with Cologne he “only” competes in the Conference League.
Dortmund, on the other hand, is urgently looking for a substitute striker after the shock diagnosis of a testicular tumor in Sebastien Haller almost three weeks ago. A week ago, the club confirmed that the testicular tumor was malignant, so Haller would be out for months.
Haller, who switched from Ajax Amsterdam to the Ruhrpott club for 31 million euros this summer, had to leave the training camp in Bad Ragaz (Switzerland) three weeks ago.
Most recently, BVB were also offered the two star strikers Edinson Cavani (35) and Luis Suarez (35) as a replacement for the Frenchman.
