Yerry Mina, demanded in his first preseason friendly

Yerry Mina played his first pre-season friendly. Everton lost 2-0 to Arsenal in a warm-up match at M&T Bank Stadium from Baltimore, USA. The Colombian defender was a starter for Frank Lampard’s team and played 45 minutes in the match. That was his first meeting after recovering from the injury that prevented him from finishing the previous Premier League season.

The central integrated the line of five proposed by the coach of the Toffees along with Mason Holgate and Ben Godfrey in the center, while Nathan Patterson and Niels Nkounkou on the wings. The Gunners took possession of the ball, put their rival in the opposite field and they generated the best goal options for which Yerry Mina was constantly demanded.

At minute 33, the scoreboard was opened in Maryland through the still ball. Cédric Soares took a corner kick from the left flank and assisted Gabriel Jesús. The new reinforcement of the London team received only at the far post, settled down and took a powerful shot to convert the first goal for Arsenal, which was the one that had sought the score the most.

Three minutes later came the second for those led by Mikel Arteta after a great association play down the middle. Gabriel Martinelli assisted with a filtered pass to Bukayo Saka who came from behind and finished off first to extend the lead, beating goalkeeper Jordan Pickford who could do little to stop the shot due to his proximity.

For the second half, Frank Lampard changed the entire formation so Yerry Mina only played the first 45 minutes. The match lost intensity and the goal options decreased. The game began in the middle of the field while both coaches took advantage of the minutes of the complement to try variants and give other players the opportunity.

This Wednesday, July 20 at 7:00 pm (Colombian time), Everton will play their second preseason friendly match when they face MLS’s Minnesota United FC at Allianz Field in the city of Saint Paul. The Toffees have another two preparation games confirmed against Blackpool and Dinamo.
