Do you want to be American?

This is the most effective sandwich, the one that gives a very white baguette its letters of nobility. Well seasoned mayo, well melted cheddar, a little tomato condiment and, of course, homemade fries: we are simply preparing a very serious sandwich, an American sandwich.

  • 1 third of a baguette
  • 120 grams ground beef (or vegan steak)
  • 2 slices of aged cheddar
  • 1 tablespoon of very white mayo
  • 1 teaspoon of harissa
  • 4 pickles
  • 1 tomato
  • a few basil leaves
  • 1 or 2 french fries
  • White pepper
  • black pepper
  • sel
  • 1 liter of vegetable oil for frying

Wash the potatoes and cut them into sticks. Place the fries in a large volume of cold water then reserve them on a plate, taking care to dry them as much as possible with absorbent paper. Preheat the oil in a fryer or casserole dish that is less than half full. Once the oil is at 180°C, drop in a handful of fries and cook until golden brown. Place them on absorbent paper and salt them immediately.

Prepare a quick sauce by mixing the mayo with the harissa, a pinch of white pepper and the sliced ​​pickles. To book. In a bowl, mix the tomatoes and the minced basil with a drizzle of olive oil, salt and pepper. Also book.

Form a steak with the ground beef, season it and cook it over high heat in a non-stick pan. Once cooked on one side, turn it over and cover it with two slices of cheddar.

Open the third of the baguette, garnish it with mayo, the halved steak-cheddar combo and the tomato-based condiment. Cover with fries and serve immediately.
