Morocco participates in the 19th edition of the school Olympic games “ High School 2022“, which take place from May 14 to 22 in the French region of Normandy.
This world championship, organized under the aegis of the International School Sport Federation (ISF), has the participation of 3,000 students under the age of 18, from 69 countries, who compete in 20 sports, said Monday the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports.
Morocco is represented at the “Gymnasiade 2022” by a delegation made up of 28 students competing in seven disciplines (athletics, badminton, judo, taekwondo, boxing, swimming, para-athletics), the ministry said in a press release.

The same source points out that the athletes participating in badminton and table tennis were qualified during the two national school championships organized on February 7 and 8 in Meknes, while the rest of the participants were selected on the basis of the results obtained at the championships. sportsmen, in coordination with the royal Moroccan sports federations concerned within the framework of the partnership linking them to the ministry.
For the first time in Africa, the Kingdom of Morocco organized the “2018 Gymnasiade” which took place from May 2 to 9 in Marrakech and Casablanca and which saw the participation of 58 countries, including some twenty African countries in competing in 18 sporting disciplines, during which the national gymnasium team took second place in the world.
At the same time as this championship, Morocco will take part in the General Assembly of the ISF, which will be held on May 16 and 17 in Normandy, and will be represented by the secretary general of the ministry, also vice-president of the ISF and president of the African Federation of School Sport, notes the press release.
