During a meeting with students, the director of football of FC Barcelona, Mateu Alemany, returned to the departure of Lionel Messi (34 years old, 20 games and 7 goals in all competitions this season) last summer. The Argentine striker was at the end of his contract and Barca couldn’t afford to extend it financially.
