The FEB and Melilla sign an agreement to hold various events in 2022

The President of the Spanish Basketball Federation, Jorge Garbajosa, has announced that the Autonomous City of Melilla will host several national and international events and tournaments this year. Among them, a friendly tournament of the Absolute Feminine Selection.

Jorge Garbajosa attended Fitur this Thursday along with the president of the Autonomous City of Melilla, Eduardo de Castro; the Sports Minister of Melilla, Rachid Bussian; and the president of the Melilla Basketball Federation, Javier Almansa. The Spanish Basketball Federation and the Autonomous City of Melilla have signed a Collaboration Protocol for the organization of various national and international events and tournaments throughout 2022 with the aim of promoting basketball in the city.

From May 26 to June 3, the Women’s National Team will meet in Melilla and there will play a friendly tournament. It is the main event of this protocol that also includes the celebration of the Friendship Tournament, which will face the Men’s U15 with the National Teams of Italy, Greece and France.

In addition, Melilla will host the Plaza 3×3 CaixaBank, the largest free and open-air 3×3 basketball event in Spain; the new edition of the Junior NBA will stop; a Clinic for referees and another Clinic for coaches that will be given by the National Team Manager, Miguel Méndez.

“With this agreement, the Autonomous City of Melilla is making an important commitment to basketball and sports in general. It is a very ambitious agreement, which includes activities throughout the year and which aims to promote basketball in the city. With this agreement we also feel that we contribute our grain of sand to achieve the presence of our sport in Melilla”, said the President of the FEB, Jorge Garbajosa.
