SURABAYA, KOMPAS.com – Ahmad Faruq Idhom Afi’s struggle to become a professional footballer must end.
The young man from Surabaya, East Java, was forced to end his career as a footballer early because he was suffering from a chronic disease.
Abdurrohman, Afi’s father, said that his eldest son had a talent in the world of football since he was a child.

At that young age, Afi was serious about pursuing football by joining one of the Football Schools (SSB) in Surabaya.
The young man who is now 17 years old even often participates in soccer tournaments at the city level.
In 2016, he also got a trophy and a certificate in a football match.
“In the past, Afi was the hopeful champion of the 2016 Surabaya Mayor’s Cup and the Surabaya Mitra Cup tournament winner,” said Abdurrohman when contacted, Saturday (22/1/2022).
Because they considered Ahmad Afi to have talent in football, his family encouraged Afi to go further and become a professional footballer.
The eldest of four children, finally joined the selection of the U-16 Indonesian national team.

He even got a call from the coach of the U-16 national team under the care of the Bima Sakti coach at that time.
In the first stage of selection, Afi was declared to have passed the selection.
However, in the second stage of the call, Afi could not fulfill the call due to illness.
“Before Afi got sick, he got a call for the U-16 national team. Afi’s first selection passed, but Afi’s second selection could not attend because of illness,” said Abdurrohman.
According to Abdurrohman, Afi was sick about last year, on June 24, 2020.
At that time, Afi had fallen in the house until he was unconscious. He was found to have slipped in the bathroom.
After successfully regaining consciousness, Afi’s body had a seizure. Since then, his physical condition has become weaker until he is declared to be suffering from a chronic disease.
“Initially, Afi slipped in front of the bathroom and was unconscious. Wanting to eat and drink immediately had a seizure,” he said.

After falling in the bathroom, the family took Afi to Mitra Keluarga Hospital in Surabaya.
At that time, his physical condition was still fairly normal and there were no scars after falling.
Afi also still had time to talk for about five days.
However, after that Afi could no longer speak. He can only respond when someone calls or invites him to interact.
Then, the family took Afi to the Surabaya Hospital and underwent treatment for about two months.
“From the results of the examination, it was discovered that Afi had a blood clot in the brain.scanAt that time, the family didn’t want it because it had to be operated on,” said Abdurrohman.

The family finally brought Afi to undergo alternative medicine.
In fact, Afi was once taken to Ningsih Tinampu’s alternative medicine center in Pandaan, Pasuruan, East Java.
Then, Afi was also taken to Jagat Satria’s alternative medicine place in Banyuwangi, East Java.
In addition, Afi has also been taken to a kiai to a shaman, but efforts to heal Afi have been fruitless.
“In the past, there were alternative treatments, such as Ningsih Tinampi, Jagat Satria Banyuwangi, kiai and shamans, all of them. If they say, there are mystical factors and broken blood vessels,” he said.
The family was resigned to Afi’s condition, which did not improve.
The news of Afi’s illness was heard by the ranks of the Surabaya City Government and the Surabaya City PKK TP, a few days ago.

Afi is currently being taken to dr Soewandhie Hospital for intensive care.
However, the family has not received a report from the hospital about Afi’s current condition.
“There are no results from RSUD Soewandhie,” he said.
He only hoped that his eldest son would recover and return to normal.
In addition, he also hopes that when Afi recovers, he will be able to pursue his dream of becoming a soccer player.
“I hope Afi can recover, can play football again. He really wants to play at Persebaya, he also wants to play with the national team until he goes abroad,” he said.

Previously, it was reported that one of the former soccer athletes of the Indonesian U-16 national team, Ahmad Faruq Idhom Afi (17), who lives in Sukamanunggal District, Surabaya, East Java, suffers from a chronic disease.
The Surabaya City Government (Pemkot) immediately acted quickly upon hearing this information.
Chairman of TP PKK Surabaya City Rini Indriyani Eri Cahyadi came directly to the house of Ahmad Faruq Idhom Afi in Jalan Simorejo 11/11A RT 05 RW 02 Simomulyo Subdistrict, Sukomanunggal District, Surabaya, Wednesday (19/1/2022).
“One of the things that has been helped is the medical bed that was given to Adik Afi so that his daily activities can be easier and the caretakers are also easier,” said Rini.
In addition, Afi was immediately taken to the Soewandhie Hospital for a re-check on his health condition.
With the re-examination, it is hoped that his medical record can be known and the current condition of his illness.
“Through this method, we will be able to find out what we have to do to help Adik Afi, which we will certainly continue to accompany until he recovers. So, please pray for Adik Afi to get better when he gets treatment from Soewandhie Hospital, ” he insisted.

In addition, after checking the family data, it turns out that it has not been entered into the MBR (Low Income Community) database.
Thus, the parents’ data is directly entered into the MBR data to obtain a number of interventions from the government.
Rini hopes that all Surabaya residents who know that there are neighbors or relatives who are chronically ill, are expected to immediately report to the Surabaya City Government, either through the city government’s social media or by contacting the 112 Command Center.
“I ask that we move together, don’t let Adik Afi again in Surabaya, please pray for all of us so that Surabaya will be even better,” said Rini.
