The association De la calle a las Canchas 3×3 carries out voluntary work to rehabilitate and improve sports fields with artistic images to motivate children and young people to play sports, said Gabriel Zamorano García, co-founder of that group.
“Our function is to recover public spaces so that society has a more comfortable place to come and play, in addition to leaving our seed with free 3X3 basketball academies. Through this we want the youth to take a look at sports or art. We believe that both sport and art improve your quality of life, give you more opportunities”, manifested.
The members of the civil organization De la calle a las Canchas 3×3 carry out the improvements with the work of volunteers and with the contribution of material by sponsors.
In addition to rehabilitating sports spaces, the civil association “From the street to the Courts 3 × 3” also promotes that the basketball courts be intervened with artistic reasons, as was the case of the Sunken Park in Guadalajara, explained Gabriel Zamorano.
The co-founder of Las Canchas street commented that several members of the association have overcome themselves through sports that allowed them to have scholarships.
«We have lived it, we are athletes all our lives, and sports opened many doors for us, we have met many people through sports, we were awarded scholarships by universities in different cities. So I think we can give new talent and youth a greater opportunity to improve their quality of life,” he said.
Zamorano García argued that in Guadalajara there are many sports and artistic talents that should be promoted.
He added that they plan to have free basketball academies in sports units and enable a program for a professional basketball team in Guadalajara. They also plan to improve a field located in Huentitán El Bajo.
