The city council was held yesterday afternoon in Chiaramonte Gulfi with the only point on the agenda, the motion of no confidence to the mayor Sebastiano Gurrieri. The motion did not pass.
The Mayor during his speech defended the work of the administration and warned the city council about the dangers of a commissioner six months before the elections. At the end of the speech he also announced his candidacy in the next elections.
The councilors Presti, Ballato, Cutello, Lancia, Pavone, Gurrieri, Garretto and Giardina vote on the no-confidence vote. The vote of these 8 councilors was enough for the decandency but the municipal secretary, after having consulted the latest jurisprudential provisions, declared the number of no-confidence voters not sufficient because in the municipalities exceeding 10 thousand inhabitants, 2/3 of the councilors would have been enough, while in those of less than 10,000, a quorum of 4/5 of the directors, or 10 directors, is required.
