MLB prepares economic proposal – Leader in sports

More than a month has passed since Major League Baseball and the Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) left the table without reaching an agreement, thus triggering the first work stoppage in 26 years.

Since last December 2, the organizations and the players have not had more communication with each other; However, according to The Athletic portal, sources assured that MLB will present a new economic proposal in the coming days, with the aim of reestablishing the talks, in order to reach an agreement for the next collective contract.

The NBA as an example

Although this new economic proposal does not guarantee white smoke between the parties, the MLB has taken as an example the recent strikes that the NBA has had.

“The objective of a lockout is to put economic pressure and that is always defined at the end,” said a source linked to the NBA to The Athletic.

The spring training start date is February 26 when pitchers and catchers report to their teams, while Opening Day is scheduled for March 31; so MLB hopes to reach an agreement before the specified time.
